Husseini Islamic Center announces renewed commitment to community outreach in response to Pulse nightclub attack

In recognition of the far-reaching impact of the devastating attack at the Pulse nightclub on June 12, the Husseini Islamic Center in Sanford has announced a renewed commitment to expanding its community outreach initiatives.  The announcement was made by Inayat Walli, President of the Husseini Islamic Center, located in the suburb of Sanford, just north of Orlando.

Police seek public’s help to locate subjects in connection with last week’s homicide

Sanford police are asking for the community’s help to locate two men in connection with a recent homicide.
Police said they found Daquan McClain on June 17 in front of the Central Florida Regional Hospital with a gunshot wound to his chest. McClain later died from his injuries.
The exact location and time of the shooting is still under investigation.

Altamonte shooting injures 3 including 6-year-old girl

Altamonte Springs Police are investigating a shooting at the Sealy Apartments that injured three people including a 6-year-old.
Police said around 10:15 p.m. on Tuesday police responded to apartments in reference to a shooting. Police immediately heard shots fired and saw a black Lexus ES300 leaving the scene at a high rate of speed.

Sanford resident among those killed in Orlando

As more details begin to emerge on the victims of the tragic shootings in Orlando in the early-morning hours on June 12, locals learned that a 22-year-old Sanford resident was among those killed.
Luis Vielma, 22, played on a soccer team, six-on-six games at the Deltona Adult Soccer League and attended Seminole State College.

Sanford Waterfront Partners reveal initial design for downtown catalyst site
