Seminole State College of Florida's Student Government Association (SGA) and UNITY Gay-Straight Alliance held a memorial on Monday, June 20, for student Luis Vielma and the other 48 victims killed in the Pulse nightclub shooting.
Students, faculty and staff gathered in the Student Center at the College's Sanford/Lake Mary Campus and were joined by Luis’ brother, Brian, and his sister, Kimberly.
“On behalf of our family, we thank Seminole State for all you have done in honor of our brother.  We are so fortunate and filled with joy from the support of his loved ones, friends, family and people who didn’t know him,” said Brian Vielma.  “Our prayers and thoughts go out to not only our brother but all the other 48 victims.”
A temporary memorial wall is now in place in the Student Center where people can leave flowers and mementos and also write a message on the board.
The SGA, UNITY and the College are working on plans for a permanent memorial.
