   Despite losing its top two hitters to graduation, when Winter Springs left the floor at the UCF Venue last November after winning the Class 8A State Championship, the Bears were still considered a favorite to repeat as most of their roster would return for 2016.

Amazing touchdown catches highlighted a big night for local football teams on the opening night of the regular season. Seminole’s Kaylan Wiggins (No. 7, 1st photo) tossed three scoring passes to Gabe Thomas, including this grab (2nd photo) with an Olympia defender all over him, and Lake Brantley’s Marcus Dequattro (No. 11, 3rd photo, trying to throw a block for No. 24, Trace Christian) hurling a pair of scoring strikes, including another incredible catch by Jalen Lee (No. 6, 4th photo) with a Boone defender draped all over him. Dequattro also ran for 189-yards and a touchdown and Christian ran for 111-yards and two touchdowns.

   SANFORD — It was quite an opening night to the 2016 Prep Football Season on Friday as six of seven Seminole Athletic Conference teams posted impressive victories and seven of the 11 County squads in action came up with wins.
