POP WARNER FOOTBALL
Here is the schedule for Week 2 in the Mid Florida Pop Warner League. There will be 15-sites holding games (Seminole County teams in bold) in six weight classes _ Tiny Mite; Mitey Mite; Junior Pee Wee; Pee Wee; Junior Varsity; Unlimited _ today (Saturday) with most days starting at 9 a.m. and continuing throughout the day. ORLANDO SPEEDWORLD
The Orlando Speed World Dragway will be busy this week.
* Saturday and Sunday, the strip will be hosting the Import Street Nationals, featuring the Haltech PRO Compact World Series & FTW SFWD Shootout, a Modified Pro Compact Shootout & Test-n-Tune.
Gates open at noon (12 p.m.) each day.
General Admission is $20, with kids 10-and-Under free, each day.

SpeedWorld is located 17 miles east of Orlando in Bithlo at 19164 East Colonial Drive, between Orlando and Titusville on Highway 50 at the 520 Cocoa Cutoff.
NEW SMYRNA SPEEDWAY
The 2015 NASCAR Whelen All-America Series at New Smyrna Speedway is underway.
Tonight (Saturday) the schedule will be made up of the Pro Late Models, Modifieds, Super Stocks and Bombers.
Pit gates open at 3 p.m. and Division practice will be from 4 p.m.-to-6:30 p.m. Ticket booths and grandstand gates open at 6 p.m. and racing starts at 7:30 p.m.
Adult admission is $15 (reserved seating is $20, the top six (6) rows of the Main Grandstand) with all seniors (65+) and military with valid ID (for proof of age or Military affiliation) admitted for $13. Kids 11 years of age and under are free of charge. MUST be accompanied by paying Adult to qualify for Free Admission.
The track is located at the corner of SR. 44 and CR 415, between New Smyrna, DeLand and Daytona.

STETSON FOOTBALL
Today’s (Saturday) season-opening game between the Stetson Hatters and visiting Sacred Heart at Spec Martin Memorial Stadium in DeLand will feature some significant differences.
The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start and will be broadcast on ESPN3 and the Watch ESPN ap with Evan Weston and Cris Belvin on the call of the game. Fans in attendance at the stadium, or unable to watch online, can tune in to the Hatters Radio Network on WSBB AM 1230 in New Smyrna Beach, AM 1490 in DeLand and AM 1400 in Sanford. Pete Blais, Luke Mauro and Brandon Kravitz will have the call of the game with long-time central Florida radio veteran Tracy Dent on the sidelines.
The game is a “Black Out” game for the Hatters, with the first 300 fans who enter the south gate receiving a free t-shirt. During pregame tailgating in Hatter Village there will be inflatables, face painters, caricaturists, corn hole, an ice cream truck and various giveaways. During the game there will be a variety of activities for fans to get involved with, including a Seminole Powersports promotion, the Little Caesar’s Hot-N-Ready Kick, the CountrySide Animal Clinic Dog of the Game and a promotion from Sporty’s Car Wash. There will also be post-game fireworks.
Tickets for both the opening game of the 2016 season, as well as full and partial season ticket packages, are available through the Stetson Athletics Ticket Office. Season tickets are available for as little as $99 each while single-game tickets start at $20 each. CLEAR BAG POLICY
To provide a safer environment and expedite the entry process at Knights football games, UCF is implementing a clear bag policy at Bright House Networks Stadium. Beginning with the 2016-17 season, the type, size and number of bags brought into any athletic event at Bright House Networks Stadium.
UCF Athletics strongly encourages fans not to bring bags of any type to Bright House Networks Stadium. But what is outlined below is permissible.
Beginning Sept. 3 for the Knights' season-opening football game, only the following style and size of bag will be allowed inside Bright House Networks Stadium:
Approved bags:
* Clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bags that do not exceed 12" x 6" x 12".
* One-gallon clear plastic storage/freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar).
* Small purses and clutch bags no larger than 4.5" x 6.5" (roughly the size of an adult hand).
* A logo no larger than 4.5" x 3.4" can be displayed on one side of a permissible clear bag.
* Medically-necessary items (after proper inspection at Gate 18).
* Each guest may enter with one approved clear bag and one small clutch/purse.
Prohibited bags include (but are not limited to):
* Purses larger than a clutch bag.
* Briefcases.
* Backpacks.
* Coolers.
* Fanny packs.
* Cinch/Drawstring bags.
* Luggage of any kind.
* Computer bags.
* Diaper bags.
* Mesh bags.
* Tinted plastic bags.
* Plastic bags with a pattern.
* Personal seatbacks.
* Binocular cases.
* Camera bags.
* Non-approved seat cushions (which include large traditional seat cushions that have pockets, zippers or compartments).
Guests will continue to be able to enjoy their tailgate activities in the parking lots and do so with greater safety and the knowledge that their entry into the stadium should be more efficient. Fans will also be allowed to continue carrying items such as binoculars, cameras and smart phones into the venue.

JUNIOR GOLF
Sanford junior golfers ages 11-18 are invited to compete in an upcoming Arrowhead Junior Golf Tour event.
The AJGT Rob Noel’s Big Easy Golf Academy Fall Classic at Lakewood Country Club in New Orleans, LA, on September 10–11.
The entry fee is $185 and includes two days of green fees, tee gifts, and Trophies in four age divisions.

The registration deadline is Wednesday, September 7, at Noon.

HUNTER SAFETY COURSE
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is offering free hunter safety internet-completion courses in central Florida.
“Don’t wait, take your hunter safety course today,” said JoAnne Peagler, Northeast Region hunter safety coordinator.
Students who have taken the online course and wish to complete the classroom portion must bring the online-completion report with them.
All firearms, ammunition and materials are provided free of charge. Students should bring a pen or pencil and paper. An adult must accompany children younger than 16 at all times.
Anyone born on or after June 1, 1975, must pass an approved hunter safety course and have a hunting license to hunt alone (unsupervised). The FWC course satisfies hunter-safety training requirements for all other states and Canadian provinces.

SOAP BOX RALLY
The City of Sanford Recreation Services Department and Central Florida Soap Box Derby will be hosting its first race of the 2016-2017 Rally Season with the September Rally on Saturday, Sep. 24, at Sanford Derby Park.
Check in will be at 7 a.m., with racing beginning at 8 a.m. and the event will consist of a Double Elimination race for each class _ Stock, Super Stock, Masters _ in the morning, followed by a lunch break and a Single Elimination race for each class in the afternoon.
The registration fee is $55 per car for single entries and $100 total per family (two or more family members).
The final day to register is Wednesday, Sept. 21, at 5:30 p.m.
Soap Box Derby racing is open to children ages 7 to 20 _ Stock, 7-to-13; Super Stock, 9-to-18; Masters, 10-to-20 _ with a limited number of loaner cars available for new participants.
Everyone, especially interested non-racers, is invited to attend any of the family friendly events, free of charge, at the beautiful Derby Park facility located on the west side of Sanford on Oregon Avenue, north off of CR-46A (25th Street/H. E. Thomas Parkway) or east off of Rinehart Road, just south of the GreeneWay entry. The track is East of Bentley Elementary School.
