Seminole County Animal Services takes in 12 dogs from Hurricane Michael

The last dog Seminole County Animal Services has from the aftermath of Hurricane Michael is Gretl, a six-year-old female.

Seminole County Animal Services took 12 dogs under its wing after Hurricane Michael hit, and they’ve been getting adopted fast.

Now, after only about a week, only one dog still remained up for adoption from the ones taken after the storm, according to Animal Services Foster Care and Education Director Diane Gagliano.

River Cross developers file lawsuit against Seminole County claiming racial segregation

A lawsuit from the developers of the River Cross project, voted down at several levels of county government, alleges that Seminole County is propagating racial segregation by enforcing the Rural Boundary and not allowing River Cross to come in.

In doing so, they also want to eliminate the Rural Boundary line entirely and force the county to let their project go through.

Seminole County firefighters return from helping hurricane victims

Ambulance Strike Team 502, featuring personnel from Seminole County and the City of Sanford, was helping out in Mexico Beach for much of the last week.

Among the manpower sent to help in the cleanup and rescue missions after Hurricane Michael two weeks ago were several Seminole County firefighters’ units.

Communication was still shaky all around the affected areas even late this week, with a lack of phone lines or power making it difficult to find people who were still missing.

Five youths arrested for string of car burglaries

Several young people were arrested Wednesday in connection with a string of vehicle burglaries stretching from Winter Springs to Longwood, Seminole County Sheriff’s Office deputies said.

The suspects arrested were Steven Walker, 18, Hailey Ann Lynn Schulte, 18, Dashaun Patrick Gonzalez-Actie, 21, Trey Michael Anderson, 17, and Jordan Dominick Jenkins, 18.

Sanford Brewing Compnay expands to Maitland, Oviedo

Sanford Brewing Company is expanding their craft beer operation to Maitland and Oviedo in the next two years, said owner Robyn Esser.

After being asked how it felt to be looking at expansions, Esser said, “Exhilarating.”

“And terrifying,” chimed in fellow owner Bo Hallowes.
