Alive After 5 will remain on 1st Street, not moving to Sanford Avenue

Next month’s Alive After 5 usually brings the largest crowds as the city along with Hollerbach’s Willow Tree Cafe celebrate Oktoberfest. 

After months of questions at City meetings over the possibility of moving the monthly Alive After Five event to Sanford Avenue, organizers have decided that the event will be staying on 1st Street.

The Historic Sanford Welcome Center oversees the monthly event, and president Derrick A. Daniels told the Sanford Herald that the issues had come down to funding.

Commissioners confused over state of Chamber building

The end of Monday’s 4 p.m. City Commission workshop featured a slight upset as City Manager Norton Bonaparte revealed that some preliminary discussions had been held about letting the Seminole County Regional Chamber of Commerce move into the building currently housing the Greater Sanford Regional Chamber of Commerce at the corner of Sanford Avenue and 1st Street.
