The Sanford Housing Authority and the City of Sanford have received a HUD Neighborhood Planning Grant. The monthly Sanford Eastside/Westside Community Meeting with Sanford’s City Manager and City staff will be held Thurs., Aug. 25, 2016, at the Westside Community Center, 919 S. Persimmon Ave.; 6 p.m.  

This Saturday, Aug. 20, downtown Sanford will host the Art Walk with two new venues on the circuit.
The Historic Sanford Welcome Center will hold their monthly art show; this cycle’s theme is “Open Season” and lets the artists’ fancy play.

James Wright’s passion for photography started when he ambled in to the Sanford Herald one afternoon asking if they had any summer jobs for a young college student like himself. Tommy Vincent readily took the youth under his wing and James’ 20 year journey would begin. “I learned a whole lot from him on the newspaper side,” said Wright during a telephone interview late last week.

New York native Kelly Seibel and her husband Todd relocated to the Orlando area about 5 years ago. This registered nurse had scooped her way through high school and has always had a thing for ice cream.

The Goldsboro Front Porch Council, Inc. (GFPC), held their First Annual Celebration Luncheon on Sat., August 6, 2016, from 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. at the Westside Community Center in Sanford, with the theme, “Pathways to History”.
