Marjorie Grimmett, an English woman who mysteriously donated $30,000 to the Seminole County Animal Services division, was actually a well-liked Sanford resident for years, according to long-time resident Jan Cara.

Cara said she’d known Grimmett as Maggie White for years up until Grimmett left around 2003 or 2004.

“United We Stand, Together as One” was the theme for the 77th Annual Seminole County Branch of NAACP Freedom Fund Awards Banquet on Saturday, August 11, 2018, at the Hilton Orlando-Altamonte Springs Hotel in Altamonte Springs, FL, at 6 p.m.

Buzz is building about the Theater West End’s upcoming production of The Color Purple, their first show at the newly-christened theater. Derek Critzer and Quinn Roberts had been dreaming up their company since last November, but when the space on First St became available, they took the plunge.

Seminole State College is pleased to open their fine arts season with an exhibit of abstract conceptual mixed-media paintings, photographs, and cyanotypes by artist Chase Wilson King.

This collection will hang through September 20.
