The Martin Family of Sanford/Midway celebrated the birthdays of the matriarch of the family, Mother Nora Dean Martin and her daughter, Ms. Gale Martin Walker.  Gale resides in Atlanta, GA, but chose to have her birthday celebration in Sanford at the same time as her mother’s celebration.  The two events were held back-to-back at the Midway Community Center on Jitway Ave.

Winter Springs High celebrates new football season with Tailgate Party

Anna Welch is a Winter Springs High School senior and the editor-in-chief of the school’s yearbook. In addition to her passion for yearbook, she is an ambassador level Girl Scout and involved with Younglife. She plans to double major in journalism and computer science when she graduates.

Arts Alive: See Heart tribute band this Saturday at Wayne Densch

Birdswell’s Mill, an oil painting by Georgia Hershiser, will be displayed at the Casselberry Art House through September 27.

The Wayne Densch Performing Arts Center will host All Heart this Saturday for a tribute to the ‘80s sister band, Heart. Love meets classic rock in a fiery ball of passion and timeless music this Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

“As soon as I hear a chopper, I have flashbacks,” he breathed so quietly between the lines that I nearly missed it.

Merritt Island cowboy and Cocoa Beach surfer, Michael Moffett, went to Vietnam in 1969 with the Marines. The cowboy in him was adventuresome and thought a tour of duty might be worth the ride.
