Who says, “Crime doesn’t pay?”

It pays astonishingly well if you are the owner of Seminole Gardens, the privately owned housing project with an address of 1600 West Fifth Street.

In April, 2011, Seminole Urban Holdings, LLC, bought it for $1.5 million. They just sold it in June of this year for $5 million. $5 million? How does that happen?

A meal that cost the taxpayers $17,000?

When public property is sold it is supposed to be to the highest bidder. Not in Sanford.

Monday, two competing entities’ proposals for the old jail on Palmetto were considered by the Sanford City Commission.

EQUAL TIME FOR THE CLINTON FAMILY

At the finale of the Republican Convention, the candidate and his family were on stage taking in the cheers of the multitude.

In contrast, at the Democratic Convention, only the candidate, her husband, and daughter were there.

You've seen headlines that were completely opposite from the article below it. A few weeks ago, the Herald headline said a man had retired from the Navy, the story and picture showed it was the Army.

That was a relatively harmless mistake and brought out some good-natured ribbing.

Unfortunately the following does not fit the above.

“Don’t vote for Hillary, she’s killing black people”

That was the chant outside the Democratic National Convention at a Black Lives Matter rally on Tuesday.

Inside, on display, were a group of women, mothers of those recently killed in encounters with law enforcement.

HUD Grant for Goldsboro

Did you see the tongue in cheek article on the front page of the West Bithlo Gazette last week?

It was reporting on the disastrous news that HUD, one of the worst agencies of the federal bureaucracy, was awarding money to rebuild government subsidized housing in Goldsboro.
