   HOUSTON (UCFKnights.com) — It was a tale of two halves Saturday afternoon at TDECU Stadium. UCF forced three turnovers in the first half en route to a 21-3 halftime lead, but four Knights turnovers led to a 28-point second half for Houston. The Cougars came back to defeat the Knights, 31-24.

The Lake Mary High girls won their second straight Class 3A Championship at the 2016 Florida High School Golf State Championships on Wednesday at Mission Inn and Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills.

POP WARNER FOOTBALL
   The Mid Florida Pop Warner League will be holding its 2016 MFPW championship games, sponsored by Kiwanis, at Bishop Moore High School today (Saturday) and Sunday. Admission will be $8, with Kids, ages 2-to-12, $5, and under 2 years of age - no charge.

It was another big night individually for several players (top-to-bottom) as Seminole’s Desmond Brown (No. 32) scored three times and D.J. Hampton (No. 2) two times, while Lake Brantley’s Paris Hennington (No. 20) ran for 230-yards and three touchdowns and Hagerty’s Leo Gomez (No. 3) scored three times and Ethan Brewer (No. 31) scored twice.

The top-seeded Oviedo Lions (top) claimed the Class 9A-District 2 Championship with a 3-1 victory over No. 2 seeded Lake Mary on Thursday at Lyman High School. Leading the way for the champs were freshman Rebekah Rath (No. 15, middle) with 17 kills and sophomore Savannah Vach (No. 8, above) with 16 kills, three service aces, seven digs and 18 assists.
