Sanford-based NightRydas Elite 2022 went 16-0 over a two-week period to win the AAU Division 1 (top) and MADE Hoops (above) 8th Grade National Championships.

The Florida League All-Stars (top) headed back to Orlando after finishing with a tie and a loss in the 2018 Southeast Collegiate Prospect Showcase. Aside from the FCSL, other participants included the Sunbelt, Southern, Valley and Ripken leagues. A trio of River Rats stepped up to help the FCSL tie the opening game with the Valley as pitchers Jeremy Orbik and Zebulon Vermillion combined for three scoreless innings before Andrew Labosky (throwing ball, above), on a 1-2 count with two out and two on in the bottom of the ninth inning, flared an outside fastball down the left field line for a double to plate the tying run.

The Maxwell Football Club announced its lists for the 82nd annual Maxwell Award and the 24th annual Chuck Bednarik Award on Monday, with UCF’s McKenzie Milton (top and second photo) on the Maxwell list for the top offensive player and Trysten Hill (third photo and above) was as part of the Bednarik list for the top defensive player in the nation.

The four Local Champions (top-to-bottom) representing Sanford in Akron will be Kira Hart in Stock, Logan Webb in Super Stock, Haley Dabbs in Masters and Nolan Marshall, shown with co-pilot Evalyn Taddeo, in Super Kids. Meanwhile, Aiden Driggers will be looking to add the Local Stock All-American World Championship to the Rally Stock World Championship she won last year, while Morgan Juarez is the Rally Super Stock National Point Champion for 2017-2018headin into Race Week at Derby Downs in Akron, Ohio.
