Senators, have you no Shame?

Thursday's spectacle in Washington was spellbinding.  Where the above line in the singular was used many years ago to describe an individual Republican Senator, this time it describes dozens of Democrats.

What was revealed to thinking Americans was a travesty of justice for raw political purposes, we should be and are better than that.

In an effort to delay the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to the United States Supreme Court, the Democrats sat on a letter Christine Ford sent to her Congresswoman.  We found out that Ford talked with Senator Dianne Feinstein who knew Ford wanted her communication treated with confidentiality. Instead of bringing it before the Judiciary Committee in a timely manner, where testimony from both sides could be taken behind closed doors, DiFi dithered, knowing it would leak out to the press eventually.

Both Ford and Kavanaugh were then caught up in a media uproar. In their hurry to destroy Kavanaugh's good name, the Democrats destroyed Ford's good name as well. Then they had the gall to try to browbeat the Judge into calling for an unjustifiable FBI investigation.

At the end, some of the Democratic Senators softened up their rhetoric or even hung their heads as they should have.

As the Judge said, sexual assault is a heinous crime.  Others cited studies showing only one in three are reported. This hearing certainly didn't offer much encouragement to those who are victims.  Better to keep quiet than tell Dianne Feinstein.
