Campaign Contributions, Who Gave It, Who Got It

A Sanford City Commissioner of many years ago once said, "Money talks, and B.S. walks."

Things haven't changed much in the last forty years.

In the Sanford race for mayor, the incumbent, Jeff Triplett, has gathered more money than all his opponents combined.

$35,150 for the Mayor, $28,766.32 for his challengers.

The Mayor has received 66 contributions as of June 22, the last reporting date.  Most are corporations owned by developers or real estate investors. Of those, 14 have a Sanford zip code.  Only one admits to actually living in the City of Sanford and being able to vote in the election on August 28, 2018.

Chris Dorworth and associated entities, much loved by the citizens in the Chuluota area, has been generous to our main man.

What's with this?

Another series of $1,000 donations are from South Tampa KeKe's,  Carrollwood KeKe's, and Riverview KeKe's. What do they have to do with Sanford?

The mystery is solved when you visit the State of Florida's corporation website.

Things aren't what they seem.

In the race for City Commissioner District 2,  Shane Lillibridge shows a $200 donation from the Sanford Airport Authority.  This is not correct.  The check is returning his security deposit for the use of the Golden Lake pavilion.
