ORLANDO CITY
Orlando City SC (7-8-13, 34 points) fell to the LA Galaxy (11-4-14, 47 points) 4-2 Sunday at StubHub Center. Kevin Molino scored his 10th goal of the season and Brek Shea scored his second goal in as many games.
City struck on the counterattack in the 20th minute when Boden caught up to a long ball on the end line and passed to Cyle Larin, whose shot was blocked inside the six-yard box. The ball rebounded out to Molino, who made his return to the Lions after representing Trinidad and Tobago in a 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifier, and he fired it home for the 1-0 lead.
Orlando City held the lead for 15 minutes before Mexican international Giovani Dos Santos tapped home an Emmanuel Boateng cross for the equalizer. Then in the 38th minute, LA made it 2-1 when Alan Gordon fired in a pass from Jelle Van Damme.
Shea came on in the second half and was an immediate spark to the Lions’ attack. Just six minutes after entering the match, Shea ripped a shot from distance that LA goalkeeper Brian Rowe had to leap through the air to swat over the bar. The Texan then scored his third goal of the season when he slammed home a rebound in stoppage time.
With six games remaining, the Lions hold a one-point lead on the New England Revolution for the sixth and final Eastern Conference playoff spot with a game in hand.
Orlando City returns to Camping World Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 17, when it hosts Columbus Crew SC at 7:30 p.m. The Lions then head to Washington, D.C. for a critical match against D.C. United on Sunday, Sept. 24.

UCF WOMEN’S SOCCER
The UCF women's soccer team might be the new Cardiac Kids, after another exciting finish against FGCU extends the Knights' winning streak to four.
Tied at 3-3 in the 86th minute, senior Carol Rodrigues blasted a bicycle kick on goal and junior Hannah DeBose was there to put back the rebound. The goal would turn out to be the game winner as thunderstorms moved in and lightning would delay the match indefinitely per NCAA rule 7.6.
FGCU got on the board early, finding the back of the net in just the sixth minute. The Eagles would add another tally in the 30th minute extending the lead to 2-0.
The Knights responded though, when junior Jen Vera sent a long ball into the offensive zone. Senior Carlin Huegli won a foot race with the FGCU keeper and placed a perfect chip shot, cutting the lead to one.
The Eagles reclaimed a two-goal lead in the second half, but the Black and Gold refused to quit. In the 62nd minute, senior Carol Rodrigues brought the Knights back to life, when she collected her own rebound in the box and scored her seventh goal of the season.
Before the late goal by DeBose sealed the victory, it was junior Bridget Callahan who found the equalizer in the 80th minute on a set piece delivered by sophomore Carrie Lawrence. The Knights have now won four-straight, with three of those wins coming from goals in the final 10 minutes or overtime.
UCF was coming off a Thursday night in which the offense erupted against FIU, with the Knights shutting out the Panthers 5-0 at the UCF Soccer Complex.
The effort matches the most goals scored by the Knights in a single game since joining the American Athletic Conference. The last time came back in 2013, with a 5-0 dismantling of UNF.
Five different Knights found the back of the net, including junior Julia Moore and Lawrence who each tallied their first of the year. Rodrigues, Cortney O'Connell and Morgan Ferrara also added to their individual totals with a goal each.
UCF Women's Soccer, Presented by Napleton's Volkswagon, heads to Gainesville to face the No. 5 Gators on Sunday, Sept. 18, at 7 p.m.

ORLANDO PRIDE
Orlando Pride returned to Camping World Stadium on Saturday night to host Sky Blue FC in the second leg of a home-and-home series. The two teams played just three days prior, seeing a 1-1 decision at Rutgers University, but the New Jersey-based team took the three points in the second match by a 2-1 margin.
Kristen Edmonds, a New Jersey native, continued her strong season for the Pride, adding to her team-leading total with her sixth goal of the season in the 44th minute. After Alex Morgan was taken down 30 yards out, Edmonds took the set piece herself and curled a shot over Sky Blue’s five-player wall, into the upper 90 and well-beyond the reach of goalkeeper Caroline Casey.
The Pride carried a one-goal lead into the half for the second-straight game against the Sky Blue, but Sam Kerr spoiled that lead for the second time, putting in the equalizer in the 49th minute.
Then, Maya Hayes gave Sky Blue the lead five minutes after with a second-effort attempt after Ashlyn Harris made the initial save on the one-on-one chance.
Orlando will have a week off next week due to international matches and returns to Camping World Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 24, for its season finale against FC Kansas City.
Tickets for the 5 p.m. kickoff game can be purchased at www.orlando-pride.com or by calling (855) ORL-CITY.

STETSON FOOTBALL
The Stetson Hatters left little room for doubt on Saturday night at Spec Martin Stadium, building a 27-3 lead over visiting Warner in the first half before coasting to a 30-15 victory over the Royals for the first win of the 2016 season.
Stetson improved to 1-1 on the season while dropping Warner to the same record.
The game turned into a saga of two halves as the Hatters dominated the opening periods but then came out flat after halftime. Penalties were again an issue for Stetson, which was flagged 11 times in the game for 89 yards. Two of those came in the second half and were the result of players losing their composure.
The Hatters used an impressive opening drive to get on the board early and then took advantage of three Warner interceptions to build the lead in the first half.
Gaven DeFilippo finished the game having completed 24-of-36 pass attempts for 229 yards and two touchdowns. He did have one interception in the first half on a ball that was tipped at the line of scrimmage. Krgan Moore led 10 different receivers to have recorded a reception with seven catches for 80 yards.
On the ground, the Hatters finished with 148 yards with Clay Mazza leading the way with 59 on 17 attempts. Matt Taft piled up 49 yards on eight carries in the fourth quarter as Stetson put the game away.
The Hatters will now have a week off to get ready for the start of play in the Pioneer Football League. Stetson will open league play on Sept. 24, at home, against rival Jacksonville.
