UCF MEN’S SOCCER

   The UCF men's soccer team will host the University of Tampa in the first of two preseason exhibition games on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the UCF Soccer Complex.

NEW SMYRNA SPEEDWAY

   The 2015 NASCAR Whelen All-America Series at New Smyrna Speedway is underway.

   Today (Saturday), the Southern Sprintcar Shootout Series pays a visit to the facility and will be joined on the card by the Sportsman, which will run a double feature, Super Stocks and Bombers (Rain date: Sunday, August 14).

   Pit gates open at 3 p.m. Ticket booths and grandstand gates open at 6 p.m. and racing starts at 7:30 p.m.

   Adult admission is $20 (reserved seating is $25) with all seniors (65+) and military with valid ID admitted for $18. Kids 11 years of age and under are free of charge.

   The track is located at the corner of SR. 44 and CR 415, between New Smyrna, DeLand and Daytona.

HUNTER SAFETY COURSE

   The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is offering free hunter safety internet-completion courses in central Florida.

   “Don’t wait, take your hunter safety course today,” said JoAnne Peagler, Northeast Region hunter safety coordinator.

   Students who have taken the online course and wish to complete the classroom portion must bring the online-completion report with them.

   All firearms, ammunition and materials are provided free of charge. Students should bring a pen or pencil and paper. An adult must accompany children younger than 16 at all times.

   Anyone born on or after June 1, 1975, must pass an approved hunter safety course and have a hunting license to hunt alone (unsupervised). The FWC course satisfies hunter-safety training requirements for all other states and Canadian provinces.

JUNIOR GOLF

   Sanford junior golfers ages 11-18 are invited to compete in an upcoming Arrowhead Junior Golf Tour event.

   The AJGT Oak Harbor Junior Classic at Oak Harbor Golf Club in Slidell, Louisiana, on August 27–28.

   The tournament entry fee is $185 and includes two days of green fees, tee gifts, and Trophies in four age divisions.

   Recommended accommodations are available at Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Slidell, in Slidell, LA. Please call 985-639-0890 for reservations and group rate.

   The registration deadline is Wednesday, August 24, at Noon.

   The 2-day, 36-hole tournaments are ranked by the Junior Golf Scoreboard and hosted by the Arrowhead Junior Golf Tour.
