Beginning at 5 p.m. and ending at 8 p.m., Alive After 5 cranks things up in Downtown Sanford on Thursday, August 11, with the second month of Alive After 5 WJRR Summer of Rock Unplugged, an acoustic rock series happening as part of the regular monthly street party event.
In addition to the regular lineup of AA5 activities, the festive event, sponsored by City of Sanford, the Community Redevelopment Agency, West End Trading Company, and Diamond Glass, will feature fantastic flavor from the evening’s main food sponsor, Buster’s Bistro; cold domestic, import and craft beers; and live music from Skart of The Supervillains, and Bob Greene, on the Bud Light stage located in Magnolia Square.
Held the second Thursday of each month, rain or shine, on 1st Street in Downtown Sanford, Alive After 5 (AA5) is Central Florida’s longest-running recurring street festival and it’s free to attend. This month, the party kicks off at The Alley Blues Bar with a pre-party featuring Dickerman from WJRR, and the fun continues after the event with an after-party at West End Trading Company with live music and WJRR’s on-air talent, Lynch & Taco.
Alive After 5 features live music, terrific food and beverage, and displays from community businesses and organizations; plus, Artisan Alley, where local artists offer handcrafted items for sale; KIDsZONE, with dance music, bounce houses, face painting, and character appearances, courtesy of Starlite Entertainment; and eventgoers can stroll the downtown shops, boutiques and galleries that remain open for the evening. There’s something for everyone and with the event theme changing monthly, there’s always reason to celebrate, and now it’s even easier to get there. SunRail passengers are invited to use the downtown Sanford shuttle for complimentary transportation to/from the Historic Sanford Welcome Center for each Alive After 5 event.
The Historic Sanford Welcome Center is a registered 501©(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to enrich the Sanford experience through the promotion of Sanford as an arts, culture, recreation and historic destination.
