This year’s Sanford Historic Trust Calendar Photo Contest gathered 138 entries. Each entry was assigned a number and placed in a folder for blind judging.
Members of the new Sanford Camera Club judged the photos on the following criteria:
• Does the photo say “Sanford” when you look at it?
• Does the image hold the viewer’s interest?
• Is the image properly exposed and in focus?
• Can the photo be enlarged to 11X14
• Is the image cropped properly and straight?
Entries were narrowed down to 40 excellent photos, only 13 could be selected.
There were several entries of the same subject including the fountain on Magnolia Square, the stone pergola and swings on the RiverWalk and the dock across from the RiverWalk coffee shop made the judging more difficult.
The 13 winners have been notified and will be officially announced in October at a public reception.
The 2018 contest will have the same theme: This is Sanford. We could include photos of upcoming holidays and street events. It’s not too early to start thinking about a subject.
