Alexander C. Wynn III

Alexander C. Wynn, III, CFSP, COCP, has been named to a two-year term as President of the National Morticians Association. Wynn was born in Sanford, FL to the proud parents of the late Alexander and Ella Wynn. He is a 1966 graduate of Crooms High School.  
Seeking his ultimate dream of becoming a mortician, he enrolled at Miami-Dade Community College where he received his Associate of Science Degree in Mortuary Science. He went on to Shaw University in Raleigh, N.C. where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology with a minor in Business Administration. He received his formal mortuary training at Wilson-Eichelberger Mortuary in Sanford; Zanders Funeral Home in Apopka and R.J. Gainous Funeral Home in Daytona Beach.  
In 1995, Wynn purchased the R.J. Gainous Funeral Home in New Smyrna Beach and re-named it Gainous Wynn Funeral Home. In 1996, he became co-owner with Gail A. Thomas-DeWitt of the Gail & Wynn's Mortuary in Orlando. In 2003, Wynn became the sole proprietor of the R.J. Gainous Funeral Home in Daytona Beach.  His certifications include Certified Funeral Service Practitioner (CFSP) and Crematory Operations Certification Program (COCP).
Wynn retired from the Florida Dept. of Juvenile Justice as a Governor Consultant. He serves faithfully at Allen Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Sanford and Mt. Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church in Daytona Beach. He is actively engaged in community and civic affairs with the following organizations:  Council on Crime Delinquency; Who's Who Among Professionals; 100 Black Men; Kiwanis International; Life Member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity; Southeast Volusia Chamber of Commerce; Life Member, NAACP; Ross Lodge #19 AM/FM; Past Commissioner and Chairman of the Sanford Housing Authority.  
Some of his many achievements are: 2013-2015 Vice-President of the National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association; 2013 Embalmer of the Year, National Chapter of Epsilon Nu Delta Mortuary Fraternity; 1999 Florida Mortician of the Year; Past Chairman of the Board, Florida Morticians Association; Past President of the Florida Morticians Association; Past District V Governor, National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association; Southern Regional Vice-President, Epsilon Nu Delta Mortuary Fraternity, Alpha Gamma Chapter (Florida, Georgia and Alabama); Member, Independent Funeral Directors Association and 100 Black Men of Funeral Service.
Wynn’s peers describe him as “An industry leader and an outstanding ambassador for a new generation of funeral service professionals.  He has a passion and devotion for his calling that was ignited before he was an adolescent and has never wavered.”  
His leadership objective during his tenure as National President is “Commitment to Continued Excellence, Quality and Compassionate Service." The National Funeral Directors & Morticians Association, Inc., established in 1924, is headquartered in Union City, GA.   Mr. Wynn resides in Sanford.  Congratulations Alexander C. Persimmon Ave. in Sanford, every Tues. from 4:30-6 p.m.  The Fresh Stop Mobile Market, a service of Hebni Nutrition Consultants, Inc., offers fresh fruits and vegetables at budget-friendly prices, and is sponsored by the Florida Dept. of Health.  Once residents get on the Mobile Market, which is a re-purposed city bus, they are provided a shopping experience similar to that of a grocery store.   Fresh Stop accepts cash, credit/debit cards and EBT/SNAP.   Questions, call 407-872-1333.
• Weekly food give-away at Mars Hill Seventh Day Adventist Church, 800 E. Second St. in Sanford, every Thurs., from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.  Everyone is welcome.  Pastor Roy C. Parham.
