Seminole County Public Schools announced Monday that they plan to reopen Longwood Elementary to help accommodate growth and future district trends.
The announcement came from Superintendent Walt Griffin as he shared the news with the Longwood City Commission during their meeting.
The project consists of renovation and refurbishing of the existing Longwood
Elementary School campus with proposed construction beginning in November 2016 and scheduled completion and re-opening for August 2017. Design capacity will be for 612 student stations. The estimated proposed project cost is $8 million.
The district has applied for an Elementary Primary Years (Pre-International Baccalaureate) Program grant in hopes that the school will also be able to provide pre-IB programs for elementary-level students.
