The Sanford Camera Club will hold their second monthly meeting this evening with special guest presenter Susan Francis.
Francis has owned the photography school attached to Harmon Photo (on Orange Ave) for more than a decade, and will offer an overview and dialogue on “Ten Techniques to Taking Better Digital Photography.”
Susan’s experience teaching photography at a camera shop uniquely positions her to be in touch with the most current technology enabling her to explain how it can best be used. Her talk promises to cover basics such as aperture settings, shutter speed and iso sensitivity.

Longwood’s Reiter Park will play host to the Florida SMaSH Beer Festival to stretch and refine local craft breweries and homebrewers’ talents and ingenuity through this challenge.

 Jeanine Taylor

Local folk art maven, Jeanine Taylor, has earned a lovely new feather for her cap this month, as she is about to appear on the cover of “Where Women Create,” a national magazine. She was done the honor by being written up by her friend and fellow art-lover, Jen O’Connor of Earth Angel fame.
The feature story glimpses into Taylor’s 20 year career promoting and dealing in folk art after being inspired by a trip to Newfoundland. Fast-forwarding through her decades of diligent work and devotion, Jeanine has built one of our Historic District’s cornerstone establishments for which she is now being honored.
A launch party to celebrate the event will be held at JT’s gallery next Saturday, Aug. 6 from 1 to 3 p.m. with a champagne toast, refreshments and magazines available for purchase.
