To Andrea Golston a mirror is not just a looking glass but just like the name of her company, Positive Reflections. This is something she also strives for in her work to be a positive thinker and reflect that to others.
"My goal is to create positive thinking through my media art mirrors and other art pieces," she said. "Each mirror is one of a kind and has a positive message on it. Think about it, when we wake up, one of the first things we do is go look in the mirror. I want my mirrors to start your day off with a positive quote feeling great and ready to take on the world. I want you to smile no matter what your going through and know today will be a great day. I also customize mirrors at your home and no project is too big."
As a single mom of 4 children, moving from the Bronx, New York, she has lived in Florida for some 23 years. Golston expressed that her desire is to spread a bit of joy and encouragement to not only her family but to those around her.
Her mirrors are an outpouring of creativity and imagination but also to give back to others struggling with terminal illnesses. "I'm just starting to launch this business," said Golston. "I'm currently making smaller mirrors to donate to cancer patients. I just lost my mom to cancer and seeing her in those last days really brought us down. I tried to always be positive and encouraging to her and I just want people to always focus on positive things."
Currently, Golston shared that she finds her inspiration all around her. In her visits to various beaches she may grab some shells. "I go to warehouses and shops to find my pieces," she said. "My inspiration is everywhere, the trees, the sky, children laughing, the ocean."
From beautiful mirrors of gold framing with blue butterflies, to shell lined reflections or mirrors affixed to stained wood adorned with antique keys, Golston's creations are all unique. Her web store also features hand-crafted wreaths and a variety of mirrored creations.
She added, "What's most rewarding is when people look at my art work and smile. I love that. It is in that moment when their minds are taken to a place of joy and peace and when they purchase the mirror they just connected with gifts as timelessly unique and special as those you love."
Golston sells her mirrors at trade shows, art galleries and online. For more information or for an appointment to view her pieces at Beautiful You Studio call 321-430-8510, go to www.positive-reflection.com or instagram at andrea_mirror_art.
