The Foundation for Seminole County Public Schools is pleased to announce the launch of a two-day interactive job shadowing workshop that will provide much needed opportunities for short-term career exploration to Seminole County Public Schools (SCPS) students.  The workshop will be made possible through a $10,000 workplace learning grant from the Bank of America Foundation.
Many Americans work day in and day out at jobs where they don't feel fulfilled. In an effort to provide students with more opportunities for career exploration, the Foundation in conjunction with SCPS, will launch a two-day workshop where tenth grade students throughout the district can “test-drive” careers. Local employers from various industries will provide over 200 students job shadowing opportunities where students can explore jobs and figure out if this is a career or industry that they are truly interested in. Employers will also facilitate a skills development workshop to help students learn and master skills necessary for success in future careers.
“This project through the Foundation for Seminole County Schools will give students the chance to learn about career opportunities and what's needed to succeed in those positions,” said Steven Alch, Central Florida market president, Bank of America. “Bank of America partners with nonprofits to provide training and education to prepare people for jobs with livable wages. Showing youngsters the possibilities open to them sets them on the path of strengthening the economic health of Central Florida.”
