Arts Alive: Head downtown for the monthly Art Walk

This Saturday, July 16, downtown Sanford will host the Art Walk.
• The Historic Sanford Welcome Center will hold their monthly art show; this cycle’s theme is “Aperture: Keep it in Focus” and will zoom in on photography.
Did you agree with the judges' choice for the Best In Show Award? Cast your own ballot for the People’s Choice Award. Polls open at 6 p.m. and close at 8 p.m., winners will announced at 8:30 p.m.

• Ambling up Sanford Ave, the Food Truck Bazaar will powwow, boogie and otherwise get down with about 11 tiny restaurants on wheels. New-to-towners include Bad Ass Sandwich, Hard Rock Orlando, and the Little Blue Doughnut Truck; they’ll all meet up at the corners of Palmetto and 2nd from 5 to 9 p.m.
• Hollerbach's Art Haus, at 204 E. 1st St., will host local photographer Reg Garner with some of his most recent creations: images from above captured using his drone. Known for his particular sensitivity to the Floridian landscape, Garner will be around during the event to meet and greet his adoring public.

• The Gallery on First, 211 E. 1st St, will flash on recent photography from their gallery artists. Stop in to see what your local artists think is snap-worthy and why. Do these images filter through in their work product? Let’s explore with them.
Featured artist this month is Jennifer Lindquist whose collection “Black, White & One” consists of pieces created using only the colors black, white and one other.

• Jeanine Taylor Folk Art, also at 211 E. 1st St, highlights Alabama artist Butch Anthony in the center gallery. His “intertwangled” images marry mercurial, quixotic and electric captioning overlaid on Victorian imagery.
While there, check out the last few days of their summer show “Gumbo.” The collection features renown Cajun artists Pat and Andre Juneau, Lois Simbaugh, and Lorraine and Lewis Gendron whose Big Easy art is sure to tickle your funny bone.

• The Smiling Bison, at 107 Magnolia Ave, will host ceramicist Richard Geer who lovingly creates planters and other vessels which will be on display in Magnolia Sq.

• Rabbitfoot Records, of 307 E. 2nd St. presents Elizabeth Kruckmeyer’s collection “Panorama.” She left disposable cameras all over Orlando a few years ago and invited the public to shoot photos and drop the cameras back to her with random images of whatever folks thought was important.

• little fish HUGE pond, at 401 S. Sanford Ave, will display their show “Pop Culture,” created on collage and re-purposed materials from various local artists.

• Tennessee Truffle, the new restaurant at 125 W. 1st St. will try out a dinner service with new menu items like biscuit sliders (duck confit with brie, cartelized onion and bacon lettuce and tomato) as well as presenting newly-decked walls by local artists Bonnita Leblanc and Space Baker.

• The Corner Cafe at 101 W. 1st St. will feature the wok of Dr. Wayne Bennett. Wayne’s photography is borne of his love for the image and his passion to explore forgotten fields and meandering back roads.

Call to Actors
    
The Wayne Densch Performing Arts Center has issued a call to actors for their upcoming production of “Beauty and the Beast.”
Adult leads’ auditions are on July 14, 16 and 18 while children (for the roles of Chip and the Enchanted Items) will try out on July 19.
