The Bulletin Board: Bo-Key riders gives scholarships

The Bo-Key Riders Motorcycle Club and Roach Family Wellness partnered and presented a “Motorcycle Rally for Scholarships” on Saturday, May 21, 2016.
The 125- mile ride of “Scenic Old Florida” began at 10 a.m. at Seminole Harley-Davidson, 620 Hickman Circle in Sanford. After-the-ride activities included raffles, silent auctions, door prizes and lunch. Proceeds from the event were applied to the Bo-Key Riders Scholarship Fund.  
The scholarship awards were presented to three Seminole County Public Schools (SCPS) students at a Scholarship Reception on June 16 at 4 p.m. at the Velma Williams Community Resource Center on Historic Goldsboro Blvd. in Sanford. The recipients, D’Angelo Robertson (Seminole High School), Faith Nathan (Crooms Academy of Information Technology), and Silvia Huaman (Seminole High School) received $1,000 each.   
Scholarship Committee Members are Kenneth Bentley (SCPS); Julie Murphy (SCPS); Euletha Byrd (SCPS); Dr. Velma Williams (Sanford City Commissioner-District 2); Art McClendon (Bo-Key Riders); and Chris Sileo (Marketing Executive, Roach Family Wellness). Attending the Reception along with the Bo-Key Riders, the Scholarship Committee, family members and friends were: Wesley Randy Beck, Chief Operating Officer, Roach Family Wellness; Ken Martin, Marketing Executive, Seminole Harley-Davidson; Tina Jett, Business Consultant, Seminole Harley-Davidson; and Seminole County School Board Chairman Dr. Tina Calderon.
Coordinators for the Motorcycle Rally were Euletha Byrd, representing the Bo-Key Riders (www.Bokeyriders.com) and Randy Beck, representing Roach Family Wellness (www.RoachChiro.com).   Thank you to the Bo-Key Riders, Roach Family Wellness and their business partners for the great community service work they are doing in our community.

• A Pre-Anniversary Service for Pastor Marvin Scott’s 17th Anniversary Celebration will be held on Tues., June 28, 2016 at 7 p.m., at Second Shiloh M.B. Church, 2150 W. Airport Blvd., Sanford.  
Bishop Jimmie Blake and Morning Glory M.B Church will be the special guests.  Everyone is invited to this service as they begin the Anniversary Celebration for Pastor Scott and his family at Second Shiloh.

• Summer Camp is in progress at Bread of Life of Central Florida, Inc., 2561 Park Drive in Sanford, now through August 12.  
Camp hours are 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., for ages 6 to 17 years.  
Camp curriculum and activities include tutoring in reading and math, educational workshops, arts and crafts, field trips, health and wellness, and more.  Breakfast and lunch provided. Excellent price, $50 weekly per child.

• Gospel Recording Artist Travis Redmond will be in concert at the Youth Fellowship Service at New Beginning Worship Center, 1203 W. 11th St. in Sanford, on Sun., June 26, 2016 from 9:30-10:45 a.m. You are invited to attend and bring your youth to hear this dynamic young singer, musician and songwriter. Elder John Henderson, Host Pastor.   
Redmond, a native of Sanford, is the son of Bishop Karl Redmond, Sr. and Lady Flora Redmond.  
He says he grew up singing in the church choir, but as he got older he got away from the things of GOD.
After high school, he attended Florida A&M University (FAMU) in Tallahassee, where he furthered his education and matured as a man.  
“Now that I have given my life back to GOD, I use my experiences to speak to others.  God has brought me through a lot and I am grateful. I write my songs with the knowledge I attained from the trials, storms, and mistakes that I have been through. I want to encourage your heart in these changing times.”

• Mars Hill Seventh Day Adventist Church, 800 E. Second St. in Sanford, sponsors a food give-away every Thursday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Community Services Building adjacent to their church.

• June Birthdays.  Happy Birthday to Elmira Daniels, Gloria Causey, Avis James, Frank James, Deaundre Robinson, Ta’mya Talley and Lisa Hunt.

• The Choir at Morning Glory M.B. Church, 2600 E. SR-46 in Midway, invites you to worship with them on Sun., June 26 at 3 p.m., for their presentation of “The Consecrated Ship”.  
Cast members, from various churches in the Sanford community, will describe, with scripture references, various parts of the “ship”, i.e., friendship, discipleship, worship, relationship, battleship, stewardship, hardship, leadership, companionship and fellowship.   Rebecca Brown, Choir President; Bishop Jimmie Blake, Pastor.
