Head to Art Walk for ‘Primary Colors’ show Saturday

This Saturday, June 18, downtown Sanford will host the Art Walk.
• The Historic Sanford Welcome Center will hold their monthly art show; this month's theme is “Primary Colors.”
Did you agree with the judges' choice for the Best In Show Award? Cast your own ballot for the Peoples' Choice Award. Polls open at 6 p.m. and close at 8 p.m., winners will announced at 8:30 p.m.

• Ambling up Sanford Ave, the Food Truck Bazaar will powwow and otherwise get down with about 6 tiny restaurants on wheels. London Fish and Chippy, Daydream Pizza, Up in Smoke BBQ and more will congregate at 202 S. Sanford Ave. from 5 to 9 p.m.
• Hollerbach's Art Haus, at 204 E. 1st St., reminds us that “nothing rhymes with purple.” In contrarian tradition, they'll feature shades like iris, violet, orchid and amethyst this month in Linda Hollerbach's hand-crafted jewelery as well as other curated elements from their wearable art collection.

• The Gallery on First, 211 E. 1st St, makes it interactive again with their event “Roy G. Biv.” See the rainbow of displayed in gallery art and search the arc of their venue for a pot o'gold that is their prize! Drawings will be done every hour on the hour.

• Jeanine Taylor Folk Art, also at 211 E. 1st St, is thrilled to open their show, “Gumbo!” This spicy roux of a Cajun collection highlights the father and son metal sculptors of Pat and Andre Juneau and husband and wife Lorraine and Lewis Gendron's Mardi Gras wooden musicians as well as Lois Simbach's juju dolls. Lois plans to be in the gallery for this event to meet and greet and to chat about these fascinating fetish items.

• The Smiling Bison, at 107 Magnolia Ave, features the lush greenery of Richard Geer, local ceramicist whose vessels are lovely planters.

• little fish HUGE pond, at 401 S. Sanford Ave, is running with “Green” as their theme and all art over there will focus on things reclaimed, recycled and repurposed. Rocke and Gibson will score the evening with a variety of genre.

Calls to Actors
    
The Shoestring Theater has issued a call to actors for “Young Frankenstein.” Auditioners will be asked to read from the script and sing a song of their choosing on Friday, June 24 at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 10 a.m. in Sanford's First Presbyterian Church on S. Park Ave.
