Police catch 5 suspects committing burglary in process at apartments

Sanford police arrested five men Tuesday after they caught them attempting to burglarize the Westlake Apartment storage units.
Police said an investigator was on-scene patrolling because of reports of recent burglaries in the area. Why patrolling he noticed five subjects acting suspicious and when he attempted to stop them, they fled.
Three of the men were apprehended immediately and two were found with the help of the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office helicopter. One of the men had a firearm in his possession.
After an investigation police determined that the men had damaged and burglarized several of the units in the complex. The investigation also revealed that the men had entered the complex with the intent to steal bicycles.
The five were charged with the following:
• Eugene Bouie: Burglary of a structure, unarmed without a person inside and resisting an officer-obstruction without violence.
• Kendall Kennon: Burglary of a structure, armed; committing a first degree felony with a weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm, felony violation of probation and failure to appear
• Andre Mack: Burglary of a structure, unarmed without a person inside and resisting an officer-obstruction without violence, possession of burglary tools, felony violation of probation
• Jaquan Woodard: Burglary of a structure, unarmed without a person inside
• Jahiem Pringle: Burglary of a structure, unarmed without a person inside
Police Chief Cecil Smith said, “As school is out for the summer, an increase in property crimes is likely to occur. Keep your belongings secured both around your home and in your vehicle. If you observe anything suspicious no matter the time of day, contact the police department. We need to send the message to criminals, that the entire community is watching and crime will not be tolerated.”
