PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING NOTICE

Regional Transportation Management Center Project in Seminole County

Financial Project ID: 437100-1-32-01

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is holding a Public Information Meeting regarding the Regional Transportation Management Center Project in Seminole County. The meeting is being held to review the latest site design.

The project entails construction of a new state-of-the-art Regional Transportation Management Center (RTMC) for the Florida Department of Transportation and the Florida Highway Patrol Dispatch.  The RTMC will be a one-story, 44,700 square-foot building with parking located at the east terminus of Wilson Road in Seminole County.  The RTMC will monitor traffic conditions around the nine-county area (Brevard, Volusia, Flagler, Seminole, Orange, Osceola, Sumter, Lake and Marion).

The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 31, 2016, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Lakeside Fellowship United Methodist Church located at 305 S. Orange Boulevard, Sanford, Florida 32771. The meeting is an informal open house where building renderings and a site plan will be available for review and project staff will be available to address questions.

NOTICE OF REGULAR MUNICIPAL ELECTION
CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN pursuant to the Florida Election Code,  Chapter 100, Section 100.021, Florida Statutes; Article VI, City Charter of the City of Sanford; and Article I, Chapter 34, Code of Ordinances of the City of Sanford; that the City of Sanford will hold its Regular Municipal Election on Tuesday, August 30, 2016, in the City for the purpose of electing a City Commissioner in District 3 and a City Commissioner in District 4. Candidates for these offices must qualify by filing qualifying papers and fees with the City Clerk at Sanford City Hall located at 300 North Park Avenue.

The qualifying fee for the office of City Commissioner is $450.00. Should a candidate wish to qualify by the petition process, 250 signatures of qualified City electors from within the City Commission District sought must be obtained and submitted to the Seminole County Supervisor of Elections by 5 PM on May 20, 2016 for verification on the designated petition form (Form DS-DE 104) which may be prepopulated by completing the form on-line.

Any person who is a qualified elector in the City of Sanford, not a convicted felon whose civil rights have not been restored and who is otherwise qualified, may become a candidate for the office of City Commissioner upon filing with the City Clerk a written notice of his or her intention to become a candidate. The following schedule is available for qualifying as a candidate at the Office of the City Clerk at City Hall: 7 AM to 5:30 PM on May 31, 2016 and June 1, 2 and 6, 2016; and 7 AM until Noon on June 7, 2016.

City residents who currently are registered to vote in general elections are registered for this City Election. However, those citizens who have recently moved into the City (or who have moved within the City) should check with the Seminole County Supervisor of Elections to be sure their registration shows a current address.
