   The Oviedo High School girls volleyball team won the Class 9A State Championship at the 2018 FHSAA Girls Volleyball Championships in Ft. Myers on Friday defeating defeating Palm Beach Gardens, 3-0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-10).

Milton Named Walter Camp Award Semifinalist

The Walter Camp Football Foundation has announced the names of 15 “Players to Watch” for its 2018 Player of the Year award, the fourth-oldest college football award in the nation, and UCF’s McKenzie Milton (above) has been named among them. The Walter Camp Player of the Year is voted on by the 130 Football Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors. A list of five finalists will be announced on Wednesday, November 28, and the winner broadcast live on ESPN SportsCenter on Thursday, December 7. Milton and the undefeated Knights will host Cincinnati on ABC tonight (Saturday) at 8 p.m. with the AAC East Division title on the line.

Sydnee McDonald, a senior in her second season at UCF since transferring from Chipola College, scored a game-high 24 points, hitting 8-of-12 shots from the floor, including going 6-for-9 from 3-point range, as the Knights improved to 2-0 on the season with a 78-55 victory over longtime rival Stetson in DeLand at the Edmunds Center Wednesday night. The Flint, Michigan native also pulled down four rebounds, dished out a pair of assists, collected a steal and tallied a blocked shot in 32-minutes.
